CALL TO ORDER: 6:30 P.M. Foster Community Center
I. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA
Removed A under old Business, shifted B to A and added Restrooms to A under old
Business, moved statements of citizens to IV. Added Correspondence D. Whitfield moved,
Francisco seconded, board members present agreed to the changes unanimously.
II. BOARD MEETING MINUTES
A. May 13th, 2026 Postponed for the July meeting
III. NEW BUSINESS
A. BMX Grant Starting Gate Ramp – Amy Dyer – This is a grant application for a piece of
equipment that would control the gate, keep time, and provide safety for the riders. This would be
used for every race. This track is very popular and the rider count has doubled from last year. They
have also recently started Friday Night Races for the Summer. The current gate is not working
sometimes and is not keeping time so needs to be replaced. The board will review this application at
our July meeting.
IV. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS
Phil Booth – Had a cleanup at St Joe Park, had a Flea Market on Saturday and getting ready for the
Juneteenth celebration.
Ana Henriques - asked for more trashcans at the St Joe Park by the basketball courts. There are cars driving
through the park by the baseball diamond, and there was a discussion on park design and the director
confirmed that if there are vehicles spotted driving through the park to contact LPD. Ana also asked about
how best to convey requests for St Joe park to the board. The director confirmed that we can add a trashcan
by the basketball courts. The director also confirmed that he will be checking on the status of the benches
that have been ordered for St Joe Park. There was a discussion about trees being made available for trees
for planting in the Fall.
Mike Mercer – Asked about the land west of Waverly and north of the Consumers Power Lines. There is a
grant to extend the trail on this 33 acre parcel.
Don Dean – On July 8th there will be a concert at Bankroft Park and there is a picnic on July 18th and there
will be a showing of Monsters Inc at Bankroft Park.
Dawn Glossop - confirmed that Scribbles and Giggles has sold to another day care provider and talked about
the green space next to that business.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Fenner Docks and Restrooms – We have had significant problems with the restrooms at
Fenner during festivals inside of the welcome center. There was a problem discovered in the
septic system. The parking lot is under construction.
VI. UPDATES
A. Community Center Study – Still ongoing, the department estimates that an aquatic center
would be in a phase 2
B. Marshall Basketball Courts – Construction should start by next week with a possible
completion by the end of July.
C. Moores Park Pool – There has been a delay in the construction, opening possibly delayed
until next year.
D. Personnel Update – The department is currently hirign for the manager of leisure services
and they are interviewing for the gardener in Frances Park.
E. 4th of July Fireworks – The best viewing will be from Riverfront Park
F. Concerts in the Park are ongoing
G. A grant application process is ongoing for the Reuter Park Fountain, more information to be
provided to the board soon.
