5. NEW BUSINESS:
A. None
6. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Grant Learning Session: 1/6/26@6pm, 1/13/26@ 6:30pm, 1/29/26@ 6:30pm, 2/3/26@6pm
Locations: Letts Community Center
• Robin reported that two groups joined the Jan. 6 session, and five groups joined
the Jan. 13 session. One is signed up so far for the Jan. 29 session, and Flo from the
board will be joining.
• Board members are encouraged to part of these sessions.
B. Grant Status Report
• Robin says that nine groups have started profile; three groups have started bulk
trash applications; there are three mini-grants started, 10 neighborhood grants (and
two were submitted, but needed more information). Deadline for these grants is
March 6, 2026.
• There are 13 applications for Neighborhoods in Bloom. Deadline for this is Jan.
31, 2026.
7. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS
Niklas Zande spoke about submitting two regular grants, one for a holiday celebration and one
for a neighborhood picnic as well as a mini grant. The Old Everett Neighborhood Association
has their next meeting at the South Lansing library on Jan. 22.
8. UPDATES
A. Mayor Updates
• Mayor has an event for newly appointed Fire Chief Carrie Edwards-Clemons of
the Lansing Fire Department on Jan. 16 at noon at 120 E. Shiawassee St. - all
welcome to attend.
• A new city department called the Innovation Team has an ‘Idea’ party on January
28 from 4-7 p.m. at Foster Community Center, offering residents an opportunity to
talk about strategies and insights on how to keep their heating bills down.
B. DNACE Updates
• Letts Community Center is being used as a warming center and is using the space
where the board usually meets, so Robin is looking into using the Lansing Elections
office for meetings, possibly through April.
• The next HRCS and NAB board meeting is at Alfreda Schmidt Auditorium on
Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m.
