Subject: Part-time job description
I am a full-time City of Lansing employee and work 40 plus hours per week for the
Transportation and Parking Office. I am also employed by an engineering consulting firm on a
part-time basis and perform work for this firm during hours after my daily responsibilities are
done with the City and on weekends. The name of the firm is URS Greiner Woodward Clyde and
it is located in Grand Rapids, MI. My duties at this firm include being a traffic engineer
responsible for computer simulation and modeling of urban corridors in order to progress traffic,
data collection, geometric analysis and design, and contribution of my traffic engineering
knowledge for ideas and solutions pertaining to current projects that are located throughout the
state and the country. I work out of my home mostly and travel into our main office about once
every two weeks. The nature of this work presents an approach toward traffic engineering that is
different than my every day responsibilities with the City of Lansing. I am continuing to assist
this firm to increase my knowledge of traffic engineering from both the private side, as well as,
the public sector.
Sincerely,
