Please see attached email of April 9, 2013 to the City Attorney with the disclosure document presented to the Code Compliance Officers and Code Compliance Office Staff on April 15, 2013 (the first work day that I was Interim Manager of Code Compliance). QUESTIONS: Is this sufficient as an update to my 1996 disclosure? Is the disclosure made to the Code Officers and Staff, and the change in the "chain of command" regarding 943 Dakin sufficient to resolve the matter? Please advise me on what additional steps, if any,the Ethics Board would like me to take. Thank You, James E. Bennett Bennett, Jim From: Bennett,Jim Sent: Monday, April 08, 2013 11:01 AM To: McIntyre,Janene Cc: Bob Johnson (robertjohnson@lansingmi.gov); Scott Sanford (scott.sanford@lansingmi.gov) Subject: Opinion Needed—Ethics Board Disclosure Ms. McIntyre, Background: My wife and I own a residential rental property within the City. When I transferred from Community Development to the Building Safety Office in 1996 1 made the disclosure to the Ethics Board. From that time until the present I did not have any supervisory duties involving the code officers that would be doing the rental inspections etc. We have maintained the registration and certification of the property continuously since before I came to work for the City. My current certification expires-9/1/13. Question: On April 12th I will become the Interim Manager of Building Safety and Code Compliance and the Building Official. As such I will have supervisory duties for code compliance. Bob Johnson is aware of this situation. Do I need to update my disclosure? If so, what is the process for doing this? In the meantime Mr. Johnson and I will develop a "work around" concerning my property to address this issue. Thanks, Jim Jim Bennett, C.B.O.
