HomeMy WebLinkAbout6.11.25 Park Board MinutesPARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES FOSTER COMMUNITY CENTER Wednesday June 11th, 2025 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Dombrowski, Kimberly Whitfield, Isaac Francisco, Joan Lenhard, Tirstan Walters, Rayvnne Gilmore BOARD MEMBERS EXCUSED: Nate Scramlin, Rick Kibbey CALL TO ORDER: 6:30 P.M. Foster Community Center I.ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA II.BOARD MEETING MINUTES A.April 9th, 2025 Lenhard moved, Whitfield seconded to accept the minutes, passed unanimously B.May 14th, 2025 Walters moved to accept the minutes, Francisco seconded, passed unanimously III.NEW BUSINESS IV.OLD BUSINESS A. Parks 5-Year Master Plan- Walters moved, Gilmore Seconded to accept the community input section of the 5 year master plan as presented. Passed unanimously. B. 609 – 609 N Verlinden – Adjacent to Osborn Park – The director and the current owner are in discussions about the property. V.UPDATES Summer Camp staff training is ongoing, the director is pleased with the staffing level. Hunter Park Pool is being prepared to be opened. Hunter Park lost power during the storm. Grosebeck Golf Course and Francis Park had severe storm damage and cleanup efforts are ongoing. The maintenance building at Coley Gardens was damaged. Department staff has been focusing on storm cleanup which has delayed some other projects. Strike Out Baseball has been opened. The Fit Park has been installed at Benjamin Davis Park. Marshall Park has bids for four new basketball courts. The Mayor’s Riverwalk had over 600 attendees. There will be multiple celebrations around the city and a parade to celebrate Juneteenth. The school district is putting fences around their playgrounds at the elementary schools, some of those properties are adjacent to parks. VI.CORRESPONDENCE Loretta Stanaway – Gravestone Cleaning VII.INFORMATION VIII.REMARKS BY BOARD MEMBERS Tirstan Walters mentioned that the new Playset at St Joseph Park looked good. Mike Dombrowski mentioned that the 10th annual Lansing Bike and Seek is currently running. Joan Lenhard mentioned that the volunteers are working at the Scott Sunken Garden. Ravynne Gilmore asked about the fountain at Reutter Park, the director did not have an update yet. IX. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS All meetings of the Park Board shall be open to the public. Those in attendance shall have the opportunity to speak on any issue related to parks and recreation services not otherwise on the agenda at the end of the meeting and may speak on any agenda issue during the meeting after park board members have had an opportunity to discuss the issue or prior to the board voting on the issue. The President may impose a time limit on public comments. Pam Heverly wanted to let the board know that the 27th and 28th there will be Pride and Prejudice at the Alfreda Schmidt Community Center. Kim Ellenwood is pleased to let us know that the automatic gate at Bancroft Park. Volunteers from the neighborhood are currently working on the rain garden at Bankroft. Dawn Glassop asked the board to consider a purchase of a property adjacent to Burchard Park West Meeting is closed at 7:59
