BOARD MEMBERS: Tirstan Walters (Co-Chair, Ward 1); Matthias Bell (Secretary, Ward 4); Courtney Cole (Ward 3); Flo Baerren (Ward 2); Brian Baer (Ward 1); MaryBeth VanHorn (Ward 1); Christopher Greene-Szmadzinski (Co-Chair, Ward 2); Vacant (Ward 4); Vacant (Ward 3); Vacant (Ward 3); Vacant (Ward 2); Vacant (Ward 4) DNACE STAFF: Robin Anderson-King Absences in bold CALL TO ORDER: 5:33 p.m., Letts Community Center 1. ROLL CALL: See above - quorum present. 2. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO AGENDA: – None 3. AGENDA APPROVAL: Christopher moved, MaryBeth seconded – approved unanimously. 4. BOARD MEETING MINUTES – Brian moved, Christopher seconded – approved unanimously. September 18, 2025 5. OLD BUSINESS: A. Grant Cycle: October 20, 2025 – March 6, 2026 • Grants will open on Monday, Oct. 20. • The board will have a reviewer link sent to log in and check the digital platform. • No issues identified before the open! 6. NEW BUSINESS: A. Tashmica Torok – Prevention that supports youth – canceled B. HRCS – Human Relations & Community Services, Housing Pods • Kim Coleman, HRCS Director, briefly spoke to the board about their ongoing effort to get input on the Housing Pods project from the community and neighborhoods in each Ward. • They would like to get feedback and suggestions on possible sites for the housing pods through upcoming meetings and open discussions starting next week, including: o Tues., Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m. at Alfreda Schmidt Community Center o Wed., Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m. at Letts Community Center o Thurs., Oct. 23, 5:30 at Gier Community Center o Fri., Oct. 24, 5:30 p.m. at Davis Nature Pavilion at Fenner Nature Center o Thurs., Oct. 30, 5:30 p.m. at Foster Community Center • The HRCS also conducted a homelessness study, which can be found on their web pages here: https://www.lansingmi.gov/174/Human-Relations-Community-Services. • Delvata Moses, HRCS Deputy Director, and Amy Crank, Contract Management Administrator, were also present. 7. UPDATES A. Mayor Updates • Advance Peace program – the city is working with the police on it and will be hiring a liaison. • The new city hall construction is continuing to move along, and a ceremony for the placement of the final steel beam with the Mayor was held earlier this month. • The office is currently reviewing applications for the NAB. B. DNACE Updates • Neighborhood Resource Summit on Oct. 15 went well! There were 70 vendors for the event. Tirstan thanked the board members who attended the event. All of the grant flyers were handed out to attendees. • The funds change request from Patty Farhat will be used just for the float. • Discussion on having projects be more connected to neighborhoods. • The office is still working on a map of all NAB grant-funded projects. • MaryBeth is working on a stand to highlight past projects and requested photos.
