Board of Directors Monthly Meeting

1. Call to Order/ Roll Call
The board called the meeting to order while they waited for Chair
Defrees.
Washington did roll call and later adding Chair Defrees to the
“present” category, giving the group quorum.
Approval of S. MLK Jr. CIA Meeting Minutes (7.17.25)- Action
Motion by Schmidgall and seconded by Sober
Passed unanimously.
2. Updates on Corridor Projects- K. Washington
a. Marketing Efforts
Washington presented the S. MLK CIA logo options to the group.
Pending some edits to the design, the group selected option three as
their future logo.
b. Bus Shelter Project
Washington showcased the proof of the bus shelter art display with
all the acknowledgments. The board approved the design and is
excited to see it on the shelters.
c. Community Cleanup
The board worked out the final details ahead of the community
cleanup.
3. Approval of the S. MLK CIA Grant Program
The board reviewed and discussed the different elements of the
grant program.
Member Defrees motioned to approve the program with the
suggested edits. Member Schmidgall supports
Passed unanimously
4. Pitch Book Site Selection
After reviewing and discussing each site option, the board selected
the Metro Bowl #4 and Logan Square #1 for properties to highlight in
the pitch book. The former restaurant #2 location is a runner-up.
5. Other Business
The group briefly discussed the new pedestrian island installation.
Washington asked the board member if they were interested in
participating in a presentation on the City of Lansing CIAs.
Member Moose explained the non-motorized transportation flyer he
brought to the meeting.
The group discussed advocating for a new walkway connecting the
Greenlawn area to the Pleasant Grove area using the former railroad
area.
6. Public Comment
The public inquired about community events happening in the area.
7. Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 2:08 pm
