MECHANICAL BOARD OF APPEALS
Held at 316 N. Capitol Ave. at 7:00 pm
January 13, 2015
The January 13, 2015 meeting of the City of Lansing Mechanical Board of Appeals was called to
order at 8:00 p.m. by Paul Gilmore Jr., Vice Chairman. The following members were in
attendance:

Paul Gilmore asked for the approval of the August 2011 minutes.
Motion: Second: Pat Ryan
Motion carried and minutes were accepted.

Case No.: PB15-0009 Address: 1215 E Michigan Ave Petitioner: Sparrow Hospital
Sparrow Hospital is appealing the decision by the Mechanical Inspector Brian Shields
determined that the proposed class room kitchen will require a Type I exhaust hood and
ducting over the cooktop range.
The Hospital proposed a residential recirculating hood for the cook top range/griddle
combination.
After lengthy conversations between the Board Members and Sparrow's representatives,
It was agreed that the appeal would be tabled and Sparrow would redesign the exhaust and
resubmit drawings to the Mechanical Inspector for review and determine whether further
Mechanical Board presentation is required.
Motion to table appeal made by Pat Ryan.
Second by Marcus Metoyer
Vote was unanimous to table appeal

At 9:00 P.M. Paul Gilmore moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Marcus Metoyer Motion
carried.
