HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.21.25 LGCIA Minutes 3 Lansing Gateway Corridor Improvement Authority Board of Directors Monthly Meeting October 21st, 2025 @ 3:00pm Peckham Inc. 3510 Capital City Blvd, Lansing, MI 48906 Board Room Members Present: Robert Benstein, Bob Van Arkel, Kambriana Crank, Hillary Kipp Members Absent: Jo Sperry, Steven Bohnet , Facilitator Present: Kahleea Washington (Lansing EDC) Guests Present: Public: Recorded by: Kahleea Washington (Lansing EDC) Call to Order/ Roll Call Roll call at 3:11 pm Approval of Lansing Gateway CIA Meeting Minutes (Sept. 16th, 2025)– Action Motion: Bohnet Support: Crank Passed unanimously Updates on the Design RFP Washington updated the authority on the amount of engagement the RFP has received since opening in early October. She shared some of the main points collected from the inquiringfirm’s clarifying questions. Mainly assess what is needed from the firm and the project’s end goal. This led to an in-depth discussion about the project’s purpose and its relevance to the board’s overall goals. Member Kipp discussed the current condition of the corridor and how to enhance it. The conversation led to improving the N. MLK Jr. Blvd. and N. Grand River Ave. using the urban design initiative and other beautification projects. Approval of the LGCIA Grant Program- Action Chair Benstein made a motion to approve the grant program with any necessary revisions on the “Covid Pandemic”. Motion seconded by Bohnet. Approved unanimously, Washington plans to consult with her supervisor on whether the grant agreement language addressing the business’s impact from the COVID-19 pandemic is necessary for the LGCIA’s grant program using ARPA dollars. Discussion on Murals Washington presented the Arts Council proposal and plans to draft potential mural program guidelines for the authority to review at the next meeting. Public Comment NA Other Business The board quickly finalized the details for their end of the year meeting/ public gathering. They have determined to host it at the Turner-Dodge House with catering from Gregory’s Soul Food on the corridor. To best accommodate people's schedules, they decided to hold the event from 4-6 PM.
