Present: Barbara Lawrence (arrives 5:36), Jerrod LaRue, Gina Nelson, Steve Purchase, Jon Scott, Charles Willis (leaves at 6:46), Krishna Singh 1.2. Absent: 2. Additions to Agenda 3. Approval of Minutes 3.1. March 12th 2025, approved as written 4. Public Comment – Agenda Items (time limit: 3 minutes) 5. Review Communications 6. Comments from Chair 6.1. The Board is invited to the April 22nd Charter Commission Meeting to discuss section 4-303, on choosing a Fire Chief. There is discussion on timeline, negotiations, potential for nepotism, and institutional knowledge. Chair Purchase will draw from conversation during the meeting. 7. Presentations 7.1. Commissioner Singh on Aquatic Threats 7.1.1. Discussion on threats, funding for training/equipment, and staffing 8. Fire Administration Report – Chief Sturdivant 8.1. Budget presentation was on March 21st. Continued funding for BIOCare physical and cadet program was approved, however only one FTE 8.2. Car Seat Safety Program will roll out beginning of May 8.3. Four new medics will start in May. 8.4. EMS is fully staffed with chief and two captains. 8.5. Met with ISO rep - with the builds at stations two, nine, and the training tower it may be more accurate to wait for the assessment. Two new ambulances are scheduled to be received in May, and a new engine in Mid June. 8.7. New tornado siren test went well – they are working as expected. 8.8. The new financial platform is still under construction for LFD. The launch was rushed, training was minimal, and LFD data was not imported properly. 9. Old Business 9.1. COL email for commissioners 9.1.1. It is decided to see how other boards handle emails. 10. New Business 10.1. Lexipol Policies 604-606 10.1.1. Approved 11. Requests for Commissioners to be Excused (N/A) 12. Commissioner Comments 12.1. Commissioner LaRue requests monthly snapshots of call volume. 12.2. Vice Chair Lawrence thanks Commissioner Singh for his presentation. 12.3. Commissioner Singh requests personnel roster. 12.4. Commissioner Nelson requests update on Station Two. A short discussion follows. 13. Public Comment (on any matter – speakers must state their name and address; time limit 3 minutes) 13.1. Brad Jorae, Local 421 Union President, shares that the union has an open relationship with Admin. and appreciates that they are able to have difficult and productive conversations. He spoke with City Charter Commission in March on the ambulance policy, and how it is an investment in the city, its safety, and its health. 14. General Order 15. Adjournment – 7:11pm
