1. Call to Order – 5:30 p.m.

a. Awards Ceremony Invitation
6. Comments from Vice Chair
a. The Board will look to approve the budget in February.
b. The Vice Chair is looking forward to the upcoming awards ceremony
c. Thanks the department for their efforts during the holiday season.
7. Educational Presentations – none
8. Fire Administration Report – Chief Sturdivant
a. 2024 was a great and successful year.
b. Interviews have been completed with about 40 individuals heading to the next step, 25 will be
selected for psych evaluations and physical exams, and we are still on schedule to hire at the end of
February.
i. 4 are paramedic with soft offers, 8 or 9 are EMT, and the remainder are trainees.
c. There is significant working coming out the Fire Marshal Division. Community Risk Reduction has
increased, and the division is working with the OCA on pre-incident planning for the airport. They are
also working on food truck ordinance for the upcoming event season. They are also crafting updated
language for the metro arson team. The Fire Marshal Division is also working with the OCA on
updating to the 2021 fire code as it is more detailed in several areas including marijuana growing and

electric vehicles and their batteries. They are also in the process of updating the language for the
Knoxbox protocol (master key for the community businesses).
d. Chief continues to have successful meetings with Union management, particularly in regards to the
upcoming promotional process, as something that happens in odd years.
e. There has been an allegation of cheating in the paramedic program, and the LFD investigation is
pending. Cheating was found to have happened by the school, but LFD must also investigate.
f. Commissioner Nelson inquires after how the station 2 move in at station 8 is faring.
i. Chief Sturdivant defers to Battalion Chief Clevenger. BC Clevenger shares that it is going well
and there are no serious concerns.
g. Station 2 was dropped this week and excavators have begun their work.
h. The 2025-2026 budget has been delayed as the city has moved to a new platform and LFD’s accounts
had not transferred over.
