HomeMy WebLinkAboutArts & Culture Commission Minutes 6.2.25 MAYOR’S ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION Meeting Minutes Letts Community Center June 2, 2025 BOARD MEMBERS: Kevin Bonds – Chair (2nd); Morgan Butts – V. Chair (4th); Charles Calati – Secretary (At-Large); Shirley Carter-Powell (At-Large); Diane Gardin (At-Large); Mary Toshach (At-Large); Alyssa Turcsak (4th); Stephanie Palaygis (4th); Clara Martinez (1st) CALL TO ORDER: Diane Gardin called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm in the excused absences of the Chair and Vice Chair. 1. ROLL CALL - Gardin called the roll. In addition of the excused absences for the Chair and Vice Chair, Martinez was absent. 2. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO AGENDA - There were no additions or deletions to the agenda 3. AGENDA APPROVAL - Motion was made by Toshach and seconded by Turcsak to approve the agenda as presented and passed. 4. BOARD MEETING MINUTES A. May 5, 2025 Minutes – A correction to correct the surname of the presenter of the LEDC Art Project from Kathleen to Kanleea was made. A motion was made by Palaygis and seconded by Turcsak to approve the minutes with the correction. It passed unanimously. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. By-Law review – There was some confusion as to what by-laws were to be reviewed as some Board members had different versions of by-laws that they had taken from the City web site. Anderson-King provided the Commission members present with a document titled “Arts and Cultural Commission Rules and Procedures. This is the document that the City asked to be reviewed. After discussion of the inaccurate information of the webpage, a motion was made by Turcsak and seconded by Toshach to table the By-Law review until the next meeting. Meanwhile Anerson-King provided the Board Members with a package of current documents governing the Commission. She also informed the members that the City website is being reviewed to improve its utility. Anderson-King would also work to get the outdated or inaccurate information removed from the City’s Arts and Cultural Commission web page. 6. OLD BUSINESS A. Art Proposal Status – No proposals were submitted. Anderson-King said the Mayor is aware of the situation and is working on a plan for the funds. B. Public Art Committee Status Report- Toshach reported on an outline of a Database that she and Calati were developing. Calati said that he just received earlier in the day a database the Arts Council along with pictures. The Commission asked if he would share it with them which he agreed to as long as they didn’t use photos without giving credit to the photographer. 7. UPDATES A. Mayor’s Office – There was no additional update other than Anderson-King reported that staff has been asked to review and improve the City web site. 9. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS - No citizens were present. 10. ADJOURN – The meeting was adjourned at approximately 4:30 pm.
