HomeMy WebLinkAboutArts & Culture Commission Minutes 1.6.25 ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION Meeting Minutes Letts Community Center Monday, January 6, 2025 @ 3:30 p.m. BOARD MEMBERS: Clara Martinez (1st); Kevin Bonds (2nd); Shirley Carter-Powell (At-Large); Diane Gardin (At-Large); Mary Toshach (At-Large); Morgan Butts(4th); Alyssa Turcsak(4th) Charles Calati(At-Large); Stephanie Palaygis(4th) CALL TO ORDER: 3:30pm 1. ROLL CALL - All board members present 2. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO AGENDA - None 3. AGENDA APPROVAL Calati moved, seconded by Gardin, approved unanimously 4. BOARD MEETING MINUTES A. December 2024 – Tabled until February meeting 5. NEW BUSINESS A. Request for Art proposals: It was a presentation of the request for Art proposals from the Mayor's office.There is a maximum $20,000 budget. The proposals should not be for flat art (murals) but for 3D, interactive projects - no paintings. Anderson-King was asked to create an RFP for review and approval at the February meeting including; a workshop date, information session and proposed completion date. B. C. D. 6. OLD BUSINESS A. New Officers: A slate of Kevin Bonds for Chair; Morgan Butts for Vice Chair; and Chuck Galati for Secretary was moved by Gardin and seconded. The schedule for 2025 meetings was discussed to make sure the time and place were still convenient for members to attend. There were no objections. B. Arts & Culture Commission Grant Guidelines Reviewed by board B. Arts & Culture Commission Grant Application (Review) C. Project Presentation Application- It was noted by staff that it has not been posted yet D. Art Location List Development - of existing art on private and city owned property was discussed with various ideas on collecting, storing and using this information E. Sharing Personal Contact Info was discussed 7. UPDATES A. Mayors Office - the availability of Neighborhood Grants were presented by staff. B. DNACE a. Informed board of Budget Discussion with Mayor 8. INFORMATION A. 9. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS – There weren’t any citizens present. All meetings of the Mayor’s Arts and Culture Board shall be open to the public. Those in attendance shall have the opportunity to speak on any issue related to arts not otherwise on the agenda at the end of the meeting and may speak on any agenda issue during the meeting after Arts and Culture board members have had an opportunity to discuss the issue or prior to the board voting on the issue. The Chair may impose a time limit on public comments. 10. ADJOURN – 4:45pm
