Old Business: None
New Business:
Case No.: Address: Petitioner:
BBA-001-2003 3917 Burchfield Dr. Stefan & Tamara Farrell
The address in question is 3917 Burchfield Drive.
Tamara Farrell was present for the appeal.
On December 18, 2002 Steve Maloney, Code Compliance Officer, issued a Housing Code
Correction Notice which declared the SW sleeping room in the basement does not meet required
ceiling height and must immediately cease to be used as a sleeping room.
Ms. Farrell is requesting a vari --ice to authorize use of that room for sleer,;ng purposes.
After some discussion it was determined that there are 3 means of egress from the room. They
would put the hardwired smoke detector in and they had added 2 inches of ceiling height by raising
the ceiling.
Brian Davis, Assistant Fire Marshal said they would need to put in two smoke detectors, one inside
the bedroom and one outside the bedroom. Both would have to be hardwired and battery backup.
Don Heck made a motion to accept the ceiling height if they put in two smoke detectors hardwired
and battery back up. Supported by James Drake the motion carried unanimously.
Brian Davis added that if they get a contractor to do the smoke detectors they should make sure
they don't do them on a switched circuit. They need to be on continuous power so they can't be
turned off.
Other Business:
Chris Segerlind stated that the only thing we are waiting on is that we haven't got the official
invitation to go to City Council meeting, but we haven't got the definitive date yet. It is tentatively
March 24, 2003.
Public Comment: None
At 2:35 p.m., Don Heck moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by James Drake. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
