Michigan Ave., 101h Floor Lansing, MI 48933 Dear President Leeman and Councilmembers: As you are completing work on the Fiscal Year 2008 Budget, the Board of Ethics has asked me to take this opportunity to remind you of required disclosures regarding potential conflicts of interests. In the interest of keeping the public as informed as the City Council, the Board of Ethics recommends that the Council err on the side of redundancy and maintain disclosures at all levels of the budget process where there is a potential conflict or an appearance thereof. All elected officers of the city. 2. All appointed officers, including appointed officers of the Board of Water and Light, but excluding members of boards, commissions or agencies of the city. Annual Statements—A Statement of Financial Interests must be completed by each reporting individual and filed with the Lansing City Clerk by May 1 of each year, unless he/she has already filed a statement in that calendar year. New Reporting Individuals—A person who becomes a reporting individual must complete and file a Statement of Financial Interests with the Lansing City Clerk under the following schedule: 1. An elected officer—at the time of the filing of his/her oath of office. 2. A reporting individual whose appointment is subject to confirmation by the City Council — at the time when their name is submitted to the Council for consideration. 3. Any other reporting individual — at the time they become a reporting individual.
