Meeting of January 11, 2006

1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Hubbell at 5:45 P.M.
2. The minutes of the October and December meetings were read and approved.
3. Chairman Hubbell recounted his efforts at seeking recognition from the Mayor's office.
It was agreed by the board that the chair should write an official letter to the Mayor's office
requesting
A liason and direction on how the Board should proceed. Maria said "We are spinning our
wheels until we get this."
we then reviewed the section of the ordinance that pertains to the establishment of the board

4. we then proceeded to discuss election of officers. It was moved that we table the office of
Secretary
as this might cause undue, unpaid toil by some member.
5. It was moved and seconded to retain the current officers passed unanimously.
6. The chair read information about Malcolm X from the November session
(which never became a meeting because it lacked a quorum)
It was decided that until someone makes a more definite request we would make no
recommendation to council.
That our function was to facilitate requests not fabricate them.
The same was said about Caesar Chavez.
7. the list of vacancies were read and Bonnie urged that Dave Weiner be encouraged to take the
at -large position.

S. The chair gave an update on the Norm Young memorial.
9. Maria reminded us that the M.L.King memorial dinner was January 16th but that the dinner
was sold out.
10.. Adjourrunent There being no further business to come before the Board,
the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
