Board of Police Commissioners Meeting Agenda
Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
Lansing Police Department – Headquarters

The Board of Police Commissioners met in regular session and the meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by
Commissioner Jones.
Present: Commissioner Members: Bitely, Brewster, Farhat, Milton, Sheikh-Omar, and Watkins. Also present: Chief
Robert Backus, Chief Deputy City Attorney Lisa Hagen-Lawrence, A’Keydra Abrams and Ruth Grant.
Excused Absence: Commissioner Brewster placed a motion to excuse the absence of Commissioner Cotton from
this meeting; seconded by Commissioner Watkins.
By Vote: Yeas: 7
Nays: 0
Public Attendees: 3
Roll call was taken and quorum was present.
Pledge of Allegiance: Lead by Chair Jones.
Public Comment on Agenda Items: None.
Additions To The Agenda: None.
Approval Of Agenda: Chair Jones moved to approve the agenda. Vice-Chair Brewster made the motion to approve with
Commissioner Milton seconding the motion.
Consent Agenda: Commissioner Jones placed a motion for approval of the agenda items.
a) Approval of Meeting Minutes: February 18, 2025
b) Approval of the Department Reports: February 2025
c) Approval of 2023 Lansing Police Department Annual Report
Commissioner Jones made the motion with Commissioner Farhat seconding the motion.

• For the month of February 2025, there were 8 open cases, two of which were citizen complaints. 6 cases
(citizen complaints) were closed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT: One public comment.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at: 6:35 pm by Chair Jones. Vice-Chair Brewster made the motion and
Commissioner Farhat seconded the motion.
