NINTH FLOOR CITY CLERK’S CONFERENCE ROOM, LANSING CITY HALL The meeting was called to order at 5:36 P.M. in the Ninth Floor City Clerk’s Conference Room, City Hall, Lansing, Michigan. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Rev. John Folkers, Vice-Chairperson Don Cote Ron Frybort Susan Grettenberger, PhD ABSENT: Ellen Sullivan, PhD Chairperson A QUORUM WAS PRESENT OTHERS PRESENT: John M. Roberts Jr., Chief Deputy City Attorney Chris Swope, City Clerk Kevin Reeves, Chief Deputy City Clerk PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Moved by Mr. Cote to approve the agenda with the following changes: * Add Vacancies under Unfinished Business MOTION CARRIED ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Moved by Ms. Grettenberger to accept the report of the nominating committee and elect John Folkers as Chairperson and Ron Frybort as Vice-Chairperson MOTION CARRIED SECRETARY=S REPORT: Approval of Minutes: Moved by Mr. Cote to approve the minutes of June 12, 2007 as submitted. MOTION CARRIED 1. Draft Opinion #40 Moved by Mr. Cote to approve the Draft as submitted MOTION CARRIED (note: Opinion #40 is annexed to these minutes) Communications and Petitions sent and received since the last meeting: 2. Statement of Financial Interests with no items for Chief Deputy City Clerk, Kevin Reeves Moved by Mr. Frybort to receive and place on file the Statement with no further action needed MOTION CARRIED CITY ATTORNEY=S REPORT: 1. Draft Opinion #39 Jack Roberts informed the Board of a memo regarding a conflict of interest involving a non-voting member of another board Moved by Ms. Grettenberger to approve the Draft MOTION CARRIED(note: Opinion #39 is annexed to these minutes) Mr. Roberts informed the Board of Ethics of a memo the Office of the City Attorney had issued regarding a conflict of interest question for a non-voting member of another board. CHAIR=S REPORT: * Vacancies John Folkers will write a letter to Mayor Bernero requesting he fill the Board’s vacancies TABLED ITEMS: UNFINISHED BUSINESS: * Lugnuts Tickets City Clerk Swope distributed Lugnuts tickets for those in attendance who can make the August 4 outing.
