HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-24-83 Board of Ethics Minutes BOARD OF ETHICS The Board of Ethics met in regular session on Monday, October 24, 1983 at 2:05 P.M. in the City Council Conference Room, loth floor, City Hall . Present: Don Cook, John Mertz, Rita M. Bauman - City Clerk and Al Knot - Asst. City Attorney - 4 Absent: Margaret groves - 1 The meeting was called to order by John Mertz and a roll call vote was taken at which time 4 members were present and 1 was absent. Motion by Mr. Mertz that the minutes of the meeting of July 25, 1983 be approved as printed, seconded by Don Cook - Motion Carried. Old Business - None Reports of Officers - None New Business: A memo was presented to each member of the Board by the City Clerk that she had received from Councilmember Adado and Councilmember Worthington in regard to asking the Board of Ethics for an Advisory Opinion as to whether and under what circumstances mem= bers of the City Council may vote on certain issues and not be in "Conflict of Interest". Much discussion was held on this matter. John Mertz made a motion that he and Al Knot would write seperate opinions on this matter and present it to the Board at their next meeting seconded by Al Knot - Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Mertz that the next meeting should be held on November 28, 1983 at 2:00 P.M. in the Council Conference Room to discuss the matter and the opinions - seconded by Mr. Cook - Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Mertz that Margaret Groves be excused from this meeting - seconded by Mr. Cook - Motion Carried. There being no further business a motion was made by Al Knot that this meeting be adjourned- seconded by Rita Bauman - Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 3:50 P.M. Respectfully submitted: Rita M.
