MLK CIA Meeting Minutes 10.17.24South Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Corridor Improvement Authority Board of Directors Monthly Meeting October 17, 2024 UA Local 333 Plumbers and Pipefitters 5405 S Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Lansing, MI 48911 Members Present: Amanda Defrees, Kristina Schmidgall, Don “Moose” Sober, Dustin Howard Members Absent: Teresa Stokes Facilitator Present: Kahleea Washington (Lansing EDC) Guests Present: Public: Erin Buitendorp, Ali Bennett, Recorded by: Kahleea Washington (Lansing EDC) Call to Order/ Roll Call Vice Chair Defrees called the meeting to order at 1:03 Approval of Meeting Minutes - Action MOTION: Schmidgall motioned to approve the minutes, and Sober seconded. YEAS: Unanimous Discussion on the Art Competition Committee Washington informed the board on the progress of establishing the art competition committee. The City of Lansing’s Art and Culture Commission will be notified of this effort at their next meeting. Discussion on Corridor TCP Projects Washington updated the board on the status of the approved funding for each of the TCP projects. The UDOT has approved three out of the four proposed projects. Discussion on Corridor Washington provided the board with a photo of the street sign toppers. The toppers are expected to start being installed soon. The board discussed the possibility of having media coverage for this effort. Other Business NA Public Comment Ali Bennett informed the board of the upcoming opportunity along the corridor with the Court Appointed Service Advocate (CASA) for Kids' recent purchase of the Greenlawn Campus adjacent to the corridor. We also discussed the Oak Street Health opening soon on the corridor and opportunities for the board to get involved.
