I am attaching a general letter of support that describes the portion of Grand River that we would like to rename. I believe it is 1.8 miles in length. I hope this helps in approximating the cost of the mailing to the individuals and businesses that will be affected by the change. I am also sending this to invite you to join us at our fundraiser. We would be very happy to see you there. Thank you Elva Reyes. --- On Mon, 3/15/10, Chris Swope <cswope@lansingmi.gov> wrote: From: Chris Swope <cswope@lansingmi.gov> Subject: Re: Lansing for Cesar E. I can assist you in estimating the cost if you will provide the street and boundaries that will be included on your application, which should be submitted to my office. I have attached the Ordinance as adopted by City Council, which outlines the procedures. Also, just to make sure you have the current application, it is attached. Please let me know if I can provide any additional assistance. Chris Chris Swope,City Clerk, CIVIC ( http://iimc.com/index/index.shtml ) Lansing City Clerk's Office 124 W. My name is Elva Reyes and I am the chair of the Lansing for Cesar E. Chavez Committee. We are the organization that is working on the street renaming in Old Town. I believe we have met briefly at a couple of area functions. I would like to know if there is anything in writing on the procedure for filing with the city clerk's office and the city council on renaming a street. I have had several scenario's told to me and it would be a great help to get the information. I was also told when the resolution is submitted to city council our organization would pay postage on a mailing to those affected by the change. Do you have any idea if that is true and if so, what is the cost, and would the notice go to all businesses and residents in the area? Our committee is very close to submitting the resolution and the form, but would like to clear up the details prior to submission. Any information you could share would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention. Elva Reyes, Chair, Lansing for Cesar E. Chavez Committee (517)749-0181
