LANSING, MI 48910 Meeting was called to order by City Clerk Chris Swope at 4:02 p.m. Members Present: Chris Swope, City Clerk Jim Smiertka, City Attorney Sharon Frischman, City Assessor Others Present: Robin Stites, Office of the City Clerk Approval of the Agenda: Moved by City Assessor Frischman to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes: Moved by City Attorney Smiertka to approve the minutes of the Election Commission Meeting of January 30,2024. Motion carried. Public Comment: There was no public comment. Public Test of Equipment The Election Commission performed the Public Accuracy Test for the February 27, 2024 Election. Moved by City Attorney Smiertka to accept the results of the Public Accuracy Test for the February 27, 2024 Election. Motion carried. Consideration of Precinct Consolidation for the May 7, 2024 Election Moved by City Assessor Frischman to approve the Resolution to Consolidate Precincts for the Special Election to be held on May 7, 2024. Motion Carried. CITY OF LANSING ELECTION COMMISSION RESOLUTION TO CONSOLIDATE PRECINCTS FOR THE CITY SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2024 Lansing City Clerk's Office Ninth Floor, City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48933-1695 517-483-4131 • TDD 517-483-4479. 517-377-0068 FAX www.lansingmi.gov/clerk • city.clerk@lansingmi.gov WHEREAS, the City of Lansing anticipates a low voter turnout for the City Special Election on May 7, 2024; and WHEREAS, consolidating precincts would save funds by reducing the number of Election Inspectors, lowering programming expenses, and reducing equipment delivery costs; and WHEREAS, MCL 168.659 allows for the City Election Commission to consolidate two or more precincts in local elections, provided the new consolidated precinct does not exceed 5,000 active registered voters; and WHEREAS, the Lansing City Council will adopt precinct relocations for the May 7, 2024 City Special Election as required by law due to the unavailability of school buildings; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following precincts be consolidated for the May 7, 2024 City Special Election: 2 and 8 voting at Don Johnson Fieldhouse 3 and 4 at Grand River Head Start 10 and 14 voting at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 15 and 18 voting at Parker Memorial Baptist Church 13 and 16 voting at Parker Memorial Baptist Church 17 and 20 voting at Parker Memorial Baptist Church 23 and 24 voting at Dr Eva Evans Welcome Ctr 25 and 26 voting at Tabernacle of David Church 35 and 38 voting at Letts Community Center 39 and 40 voting at Hope Ministries Church BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the comprehensive list of precincts and polling locations for the May 7, 2024 City Special Election resulting from this Election Commission action and the Lansing City Council action is as follows: Combined Precinct Polling Place Precincts 1 Gier Community Center 1 2 Don Johnson Fieldhouse 2 & 8 4 Grand River Head Start 3 & 4 5 Foster Community Center 5 9 Potter Park Zoo 9 10 Bethlehem Lutheran Church 10 & 14 12 Bethlehem Lutheran Church 12 15 Parker Memorial Baptist Church 15 & 18 16 Parker Memorial Baptist Church 13 & 16 17 Parker Memorial Baptist Church 17 & 20 22 Alfreda Schmidt Southside Comm Ctr 22 23 Dr Eva Evans Welcome Ctr 23 & 24 25 Tabernacle Of David 25 & 26 Lansing City Clerk's Office Ninth Floor, City Hall, 124 W.
