HomeMy WebLinkAboutPolice and Fire Retirement Board June 2024 MinutesTHE BOARD OF TRUSTEES CITY OF LANSING POLICE AND FIRE RETIREMENT SYSTEM COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING MINUTES Regular Meeting June 18, 2024 10th Floor Conference Room Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Trustee Schor, Taylor, Wilcox, Wohlfert – 4. Absent: Garza, Kreft, Moore, Thomas Others present: Karen E. Williams, Thomas Lindemann, Human Resources Department, Attorney Joe Abood, City Attorney’s Office; Attorney Aaron Castle, VanOverbeke, Michaud and Timmony. There were no public comments for items on the agenda. Secretary’s Report: 0 new sworn fire member(s), 1 new sworn police member(s), 0 reinstatement(s), 0 refund(s), 0 transfers, 0 retired. Total: Active membership: 349. 0 death(s). Reimbursements to the System year-to-date amount to $0.00. Retirement allowances paid for the month of May 2024, amounted to $3,355,942.27. Total retirement checks printed for the P&F System: 814. Total retirement checks printed for both systems: 1,735. Domestic relations order received: 0. Domestic relations orders pending: 0. Eligible Domestic Relations Order Certified: 0. The applicants for regular age and service retirements were tabled until July meeting. There were no requests for Duty Disability Retirement. There were no requests for Non-Duty Disability Retirement. There were no requests for Refund of Accumulated Contributions. Trustee Christopher Wilcox and Trustee Eric Wohlfert provided oral reports for his attendance at the MAPERS Spring Conference. The conference included topics regarding the effects of inflation, real estate, and emerging markets. Karen Williams announced the MAPERS Fall Conference will be held September 21 -24, 2024. Karen Williams reported that Trustees Garza, Kreft, Moore and Thomas requested to be excused from the June Police and Fire Retirement System Board meeting. Attorney Castle updated the Board regarding the Ullico Infrastructure contract. Attorney Castle will review the contract and have a report available at the next meeting. Attorney Castle updated the Board on the investment consultant review. The RFIQ were due distributed to members to review and discuss at the next meeting. Upon review, the Board can decide at its August Joint meeting how to proceed. Ms. Williams reported that the Joint Retirement Board committee had met and was building the itinerary and sending out SAVE THE DATE Notices. George Tarlas reviewed the Monthly Investment Report for the period ending May 31, 2024. It was moved by Trustee Wilcox and supported by Trustee Taylor to adjourn the Police and Fire Retirement System June meeting. Adopted by the following vote: unanimous.
