HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Service Board Minutes for August 8, 2024REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF PUBLIC SERVICE AUGUST 8, 2024 PRESENT: Thomas Hickson, Nancy Mahlow, Hugh McNichol, Samara Morgan, and Jason Wilkes ABSENT: Jon Scott, and Ronald Wilson STAFF:Nathan Arnold and Jeremiah Kilgore. VISITORS: None 1) CALL TO ORDER: Chair Wilkes called the meeting to order at 11:31 a.m., at the City of Lansing Operation and Maintenance Division. a. Roll Call b. Excused Absences: Jon Scott, and Ronald Wilson 2) ADJUSTMENTS/APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: Chair Wilkes requested approval of the agenda, with addition requested by Ms. Mahlow, Mr. McNichol moved, Ms. Mahlow seconded, MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY, to approve the agenda with addition. 3) APPROVAL OF BOARD MINUTES: July 11, 2024 Chair Wilkes requested approval of the minutes, Ms. Mahlow moved, Mr. McNichol seconded, MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY, to approve the minutes as submitted. 4) CITIZEN COMMENTS: None 5) ACTION ITEMS: None 6) REPORT OF OFFICERS: Operations and Maintenance/CART Division: A written report was distributed. Mr. Arnold gave a brief overview of the report. Discussion and questions followed. 7) DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Deputy Director Kilgore reported on the following: recycle center location, food waste pilot, Michigan Avenue project, and vacancies. Public Service Board Page 2 August 8, 2024 8) UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Cambridge Downs Subdivision parking regulation request – the vote was locked, with a one-to-one vote, at the Committee of Operations meeting to change the parking regulations for just Westchester Rd and East Westchester Rd. Legal will decide where it goes next. Ms. Mahlow previous concerns for citizens walking and biking around the Frandor Shopping Center has unfortunately come true, with the recent tragedy of a death. A citizen was struck and killed by a vehicle crossing at Homer and Vine Street. Ms. Mahlow stated even though the location is in Lansing Township, it is the citizens of Lansing that walk or bike to shop there and it should be a concern of the City of Lansing. Ms. Mahlow will draft a letter to send to Lansing Township. 9) NEW BUSINESS: 10)COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION ITEMS: a. Administration, Engineering, and Traffic Engineering – September meeting, 7th flr.
