Board of Directors Meeting Friday, July 12, 2024 – 8:30 AM Grewal Hall, 224 South Washington Sq. Lansing, MI 48933 MINUTES Members Present: Chair - Shelley Davis Boyd, Vice-Chair - Calvin Jones, Secretary - Dr. Alane Laws-Barker, Chaz Carrillo, Sandra Lupien, Rawley Van Fossen Members Absent: Treasurer - Catherine Rathbun, Jordan Sutton, Michael McKissic Staff Present: Karl Dorshimer, Kris Klein, Brandy Standler, Aurelius Christian, Alex Watkins, and Chelsea Dowler Guests: 1) Call to Order/Roll Call Chair Davis Boyd called the Lansing Economic Development Corporation meeting to order at 9:13 AM. 2) Approval of LEDC Board Meeting Minutes – Friday, June 07, 2024 (ACTION) MOTION: Member Lupien moved to approve the LEDC meeting minutes from the Friday, June 7, 2024, Board of Directors meeting, as presented. Motion seconded by member Laws-Barker. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. 3) Financial Update Standler updated the board that revenue continues to exceed projections. Assets have increased from last fiscal year. Irie Smoke Shack will likely be paying off the loan within the next few months. Audit will be scheduled for late Fall. LEDC Board of Directors Meeting: Friday, July 12, 2024 Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 3 4) EGLE Environmental Justice Impact Grant Application (ACTION) Dowler presented an application for an EGLE grant for 2215 E. Michigan Avenue to be renovated for childcare use. Asbestos and lead remediation and air quality. MOTION: Member Van Fossen moved to approve the EGLE Environmental Justice Impact Grant Application, as presented. Motion seconded by member Lupien. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. 5) LEED Initiative: Developer Diversification Technical Assistance Provider Christian discussed the objectives concerning Developer Diversification Training. Grow America will be a partner in this initiative. Cost would be $80,000. Up to 25 in the Cohort. 6) Corridor Updates Washington addressed the board with updates regarding the activity with the CIA boards. She also mentioned the placemaking project that is taking place with conjunction with the Arts Council. 7) Projects Update Klein updated the board regarding the New Vision project. An overview may be presented at the August meeting. Moving forward with the Site Readiness Grant (SSRP) Verlinden Racer Trust site. Grant agreement may be ready at the August board meeting. 8) Operations Update EDC website RFP has been made public. Closes August 9th. EDFS position closed last month. Hopefully will have an update next meeting. 9) Open Forum for LEDC Board Members Jones mentioned that dollars are coming to Lansing and that leadership in the legislature is making great efforts and thanks them for their efforts. 10) Other Business None. 11) Public Comment LEDC Board of Directors Meeting: Friday, July 12, 2024 Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 3 None. 12) Adjournment Chair Davis Boyd called the Lansing Economic Development Corporation meeting to adjournment at 9:48 AM. ________________________________________________________ Karl Dorshimer, President, and CEO Lansing Economic Development Corporation (LEDC)
