Foster Ave., Room 211* Lansing, MI 48910 Members Present: Yvette Collins, Jon Lum, Scott Gillespie, Joan Nelson, Laurie Baumer Mayoral Designee: Members Absent: Elaine Barr, Dr. Andrea McSwain Facilitator Present: Alex Watkins (LEDC) Public Present: Jennifer McKinstry (Canopy Creative), Steve Bezold, Chris Klein Recorded by: Yvette Collins Call to Order/Roll call Chair Lum welcomed everyone and called the MACIA Board of Directors meeting to order at 8:38 a.m. *Due to a scheduling conflict, the meeting was held in room 213. Approval of the January 26, 2024, MACIA Meeting Minutes (Action) MOTION: Baumer moved to approve the January MACIA Meeting Minutes. Motion seconded by Nelson. YEAS: Unanimous. Motion carried. Website Update Jennifer McKinstry provided a presentation of the dotheavenue.com website. Lum shared thoughts on improving the mobile application of the website and McKinstry shared that she has that on her radar. McKinstry also shared various ideas for additional development of the website that will involve more businesses engaged. McKinstry will follow up directly with Baum to share her list of proposed projects so that activity on getting a robust website presence can move forward quickly. Interactive Map Presentation – Steve Bezold 2 Steve Bezold provided a presentation of the city’s interactive map. Bezold shared that story maps have been developed and he provided census block groups of data defining Eastside neighborhoods. He shared points of interest along the corridor and offered that while the information is live, it is not posted on the city’s website yet. Bezold shared that the information would be available soon, publicly. He also offered that there will be data dashboards available to the CIAs. Lum suggested including surface lot information and Bezold said that some surface lots are included. There is also discussion about getting information from Lansing Township so that Red Cedar data can be included. 2000 Block Facade Update Gillespie is setting up meetings with the property owners. Since Charlie Krupka is unavailable, both Baumer and Lum have offered to join Gillespie when he speaks with the individual properties to talk about the project costs. Gillespie is looking at setting up these meetings soon. Social District Update Watkins has been in contact with the developers of the Red Cedar District. The Red Cedar District will put up signage to reflect where the social district is within the area. The Friday before St. Patrick’s Day (3/15) will be the launch date for the Red Cedar Social District. New Board Meeting Discussion Watkins discussed two potential candidates to join the board, there is currently one board seat open.
