BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Kimberly Whitfield, Nate Scramlin, Isaac Francisco, Joan Lenhard,

II.BOARD MEETING MINUTES
A.May 8, 2024 Walters Moved to Accept, Lenhard Seconded, unanimously accepted
III.CORRESPONDENCE
A. GLOS – Frances Park - Simon Terhaar, brought up issues with park staff, issues with the field,
allocation of resources. Play has been moved to a new location to help revitalize the used fields.
Fees and fee structures were discussed.
B. FOLHC – Mt. Hope 150th Birthday – June 9
IV.NEW BUSINESS
A. Michigan Waterways Stewards Grant – Applying to Yamaha for a grant for a four wheeler with a
winch to help with the cleanup efforts with Michigan Waterways Stewards Grant.
V.OLD BUSINESS
A. Playgrounds – St. Joe; Wilson, Georgetown replacements were discussed, director will be
providing figures for replacement. Fenner Nature Center Preschool is planning on installing a new
nature based playground
VI.UPDATES
A. Master Plan due 2/1/26 – Spicer will be presenting at the September 2024 meeting.
B. Parks Millage Renewal – Ballot August 2025 – A fact sheet is planned for information
regarding the millage renewal.
C. There will be a Ribbon Cutting on 6/21 at the newly renovated Frances Rose Garden. Baskets
have been purchased for Sycamore/Fenner Disc Golf Course; Moores Pool project is ongoing, still
waiting on a building permit; Tree Planting is in progress, trees have been sent out to the residents;
Fulton Park has a new Overlook and there will be a Ribbon Cutting on July 9th; Davis/Gier Parking
Lot Paving (completed); Ranney Park and Rotary Sun Shade Order is in; Fenner Pathway bids are
being returned; Ferris Park turf will be going in to the Beacon Soccer Field this year; Washington
Park Art was installed; Pump Track opened and has been well received.

B. Hunter Park Pool – Opens June 15
C. Kids Camp – June 17 through August 9
D. City closed for Juneteenth on June 19
VIII.REMARKS BY BOARD MEMBERS
IX. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS
All meetings of the Park Board shall be open to the public. Those in attendance shall have the
opportunity to speak on any issue related to parks and recreation services not otherwise on the
agenda at the end of the meeting and may speak on any agenda issue during the meeting after park
board members have had an opportunity to discuss the issue or prior to the board voting on the issue.
The President may impose a time limit on public comments.
Mike Marriot – Grateful for work on the river trail.
Ryan Kost – Expressed appreciation to the Board for their engagement and fulfilling obligations in
committing to attend meetings.
Meeting adjourned at 7:26 PM by a vote moved Lenhard with Walters Seconded
