HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Board July MinutesPARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES FOSTER COMMUNITY CENTER WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 2024 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Dombrowski, Rick Kibbey, Kimberly Whitfield, Nate Scramlin, Isaac Francisco, Joan Lenhard, Tirstan Walters, Ravynne Gilmore BOARD MEMBERS EXCUSED: Rick Kibbey, Nate Scramlin, CALL TO ORDER: 6:30 P.M. Foster Community Center I.ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA II.BOARD MEETING MINUTES A.June 12, 2024 Whitfield moved to accept the minutes, Walters Seconded. Passed unanimously III.NEW BUSINESS A. Election of Officers: Dombrowski nominated as chair, Scramlin nominated as Vice Chair, Francisco nominated as Secretary. Walters moved to elect the officers, Lenhard seconded, passed unanimously B. Ethics Training – Discussed requirements for board members to view, will report back on completion by board members at the September meeting. C. D. IV.OLD BUSINESS A. Playgrounds – St. Joe We have been invited July 24th to the West Side Neighborhood Picnic Wilson- Coronado Gardens, Georgetown – Highlands Cooperative (slide @ Dunneback) B. V.UPDATES A. Master Plan due 2/1/25 – Spicer Group will be meeting with the Board at the September 2024 meeting. B. Parks Millage Renewal – Will be on the ballot August 2025 C. Fenner, July 4th events - Good fireworks displays this year and it was well attended. At the Nature Center there are some planned renovations at the Nature Center Building. There is a renovation for adding soundproofing to the Pavilion. A celebration at the Capitol Building is being planned for July 4th 2026 celebration for the 250th anniversary. Scott Sunken Garden has had some irrigation issues and a replacement statue has been ordered for one that was damaged. Some areas of parks may not be accessible due to flooding. VI.CORRESPONDENCE A. Listserve – park hours for summer solstice from Ravynne Gilmore B. Ore Creek Archery Club 2024 Competition Winning Members – Letts, Saturday, July 20, 2 p.m. C. Eastside Summer Art Celebration at Hunter Park Saturday, August 10 4-7 pm D. Charlie Beals – Hunter’s Ridge Gate VII.INFORMATION A. Fulton Overlook Ribbon Cutting Tuesday, July 9 3 p.m. B. Washington Park Fitness Court Ribbon Cutting Wednesday, July 31 at 2:30 p.m. C. Lugnuts Game – Saturday, August 3 7:05 p.m. D. No August meeting, next meeting September 11 E. Wentworth Park will have a ceremony on September 11th to remember the victims of the attack on September 11th 2001. VIII.REMARKS BY BOARD MEMBERS IX. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS All meetings of the Park Board shall be open to the public. Those in attendance shall have the opportunity to speak on any issue related to parks and recreation services not otherwise on the agenda at the end of the meeting and may speak on any agenda issue during the meeting after park board members have had an opportunity to discuss the issue or prior to the board voting on the issue. The President may impose a time limit on public comments. Don Dean invited the board and the public to enjoy Wall E at Bancroft Park on August 9th at Sunset. Other movies and games are also being hosted by the Friends of Bancroft Park. Thanked the department for moving the rocks off of the sidewalk. Meeting closed at 7:23
