HomeMy WebLinkAboutNovember minutesPARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES FOSTER COMMUNITY CENTER WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2024 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Dombrowski, Kimberly Whitfield, Nate Scramlin, Isaac Francisco, Joan Lenhard, Tirstan Walters, Ravynne Gilmore BOARD MEMBERS EXCUSED: Rick Kibbey CALL TO ORDER: 6:31 P.M. Foster Community Center I.ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA II.BOARD MEETING MINUTES A.October 9, 2024 Scramlin moved to accept the minutes, Francisco seconded, passed unanimously IX. STATEMENTS OF CITIZENS Mark Marriott asked about a parcel in Churchill Downs that is owned by the Ingham County Land bank. Mike Stout wanted to thank the efforts of volunteers and gave a summary of the efforts by Michigan Waterways Stewards. They recently helped clean the area of Kruegers Landing. Next year the Michigan Waterways Stewards plans on working on the Sycamore Creek area and the area around Tecumseh East. Next year plan on working on the invasive species including invasive shrubs along the river banks. They met with the Friends of the River Trail and plan on coordinating cleanup efforts with that group. Don Dean said there has been some requests for a trash can to be replaced in Bankcroft Park. He highlighted that Bankcroft Park is a great place to hike and talked about hoping to improve the pathway. Em and Otter will be shown at the Foster Neighborhood Center. He also is hoping to have a 5K race at Bankcroft Park. Kim Ellenwood wanted to thank the department for the new horseshoe pit installed in Bankcroft Park. III.NEW BUSINESS A. Master Plan – Survey Questions – reviewed draft survey questions, forwarded draft survey questions to DEI committee. B. Annual Report Due December 1 C. CIP Projects FY26 (2025-2026) We will be reviewing these in February 2025 IV.OLD BUSINESS V.UPDATES A. Master Plan due 2/1/26 B. Parks Millage Renewal – Ballot August 2025 - A Fact Sheet will be produced early 2025 C. Ribbon cutting at the Pickelball/Tennis courts at Clifford D. Ribbon Cutting at Fenner Center Pathway E. Received the Grant Score for the Francis Park shoreline project F. Halloween went well at Davis and G. Holliday Lights at Francis for the first 3 weekends in December H. Updating Parks Map that will feature the parks and the river trail VI.CORRESPONDENCE A. FOLHC – Race to Restore October 26 B. J. Binder – Trash cans at Elmhurst (Gordon Ave.) C. VII.INFORMATION A. VIII.REMARKS BY BOARD MEMBERS Lenhard met with a volunteer at Archery Program. Scramlin visited Raney, was impressed by the shade sail and asked about the seating and trash cans Walters asked about the list serve, a message that was sent by the Friends of Lansing of Lansing was received later than they thought they had sent it. Gilmore asked about the storage for the Archery Program Francisco thanked the department and Board for their support of the Wednesday Night Lights events that have occurred on Wednesday Nights in November at Fulton, Fine, and Hunters Ridge Parks.
