Call to Order/ Roll Call
Benstein called the meeting to order at 3:12 p.m. Roll call was called by
Christian and recorded for public record.
Approval of Lansing Gateway CIA Meeting Minutes (May 16, 2023) - Action
MOTION: Sinha moved to approve the Lansing Gateway CIA Meeting Minutes
from May 16, 2023. Motion seconded by Hartwell.
YEAS: Unanimous. Motion Carried.
CEDAM Fellow Introduction
Washington introduced herself as well as her focus on the CIA over the next 15
months. Washington shared that she is working on a community input survey.
City of Lansing Masterplan Update
Christian provided an update on the city of Lansing's master plan update;
focusing on social aspects of plan elements as well as opportunities to gather
input from the community. Benstein printed off the survey and Sinha discussed the
accessibility and comprehension of the survey. Bohnet mentioned the river trail
being Lansing's best asset. Watkins provided additional commentary. Benstein
discussed the main street presentation and focus on accessibility. Bohnet
discussed a campaign to promote Lansing as well as greater Lansing marketing
as a region. Watkins discussed some of the interactions on the river trail.
Bohnet discussed finding funding opportunities and partnering with other
organizations for projects. Group discussion around travel and the challenges
facing the CRAA.
Projects Discussion
Christian discussed the segmentation of the corridor and opportunity near
oldtown and grand river. Watkins discussed the idea of districts and planning
around a theme. Group discussion around a smaller grocery store. Washington
mentioned a focus on identity in the survey. Bohnet shared the creation of the
Facebook page for the LGCIA. Watkins asked how the survey would be
distributed. Washington shared that the city's communication team will share on
social media as well as leveraging the networks of board members.

MOTION: Bohnet moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Sinha.
