Lansing Gateway Corridor Improvement Authority
Board of Directors Annual Meeting
Tuesday, January 17, 2022- 3:00 PM

Call to Order/ Roll Call
Christian called the meeting to order at 3:14 p.m. Roll call was called by
Christian and recorded for public record.
Approval of Lansing Gateway CIA Meeting Minutes (December 20, 2022) - Action
MOTION: Sinha moved to approve the Lansing Gateway CIA Meeting Minutes
from December 20, 2022. Motion seconded by Bohnet.
YEAS: Unanimous. Motion Carried.
MSU Practicum
Christian provided an update on the MSU Practicum and the scope that the
students would be focused on for the Lansing Gateway corridor. Gonzales
asked about cost and Christian expressed that there is a $5,000 cost and that
businesses on the corridor can help support in conjunction with the authority.
Sinha mentioned that Peckham Inc. can contribute $1,000 toward the cost.
Bohnet inquired about grants to cover the cost. Christian mentioned that there is
a grant through the MSU Center for Community and Economic Development,
but the LEDC didn't apply for that assistance in order to have a more
competitive application. Christian discussed the using ARPA funds designated to
the authority.
Discussion followed on potential projects such as social media accounts,
visioning sessions, as well as having other CIA members attend a future meeting
to provide a primer for the board.
CEDAM Fellow
Christian shared that the City of Lansing had been selected to host a CEDAM
Fellow that would focus full-time on the corridor and discussed the scope of
work for the fellow. Christian mentioned that he was in the fellowship program
before his employment with the LEDC and detailed the experience. Christian
shared the benefit of having an individual focus solely on the Lansing Gateway
corridor and the ability of the individual to seek additional funding opportunities.
Christian mentioned that there was a $10,000 program fee and the City of
Lansing will be paying $5,000 toward the fee.
Lansing Gateway CIA Bylaws
Christian provided an overview of the CIA bylaws and the process for them to be
adopted.
Approval of 2023 Lansing Gateway CIA Board Meeting Schedule -Action
MOTION: Benstein moved to approve the 2023 Board Meeting Schedule, as
presented. Motion seconded by Sinha.
YEAS: Unanimous. Motion Carried.
2023 Election of Officers -Action
The following slate was proposed:
Chair: Robert Benstein
Vice Chair: Diane Hartwell
Treasurer: Steve Bohnet
MOTION: Benstein moved to approve the officer slate, as proposed. Motion
seconded by Sinha.
YEAS: Unanimous. Motion Carried.
Other Business
None.
Public Comment
Andy Fedewa, Stephen Bezold, and Zach Driver introduced themselves and their
roles with the City of Lansing Economic Development & Planning Department.
Fedewa expressed that he is at the disposal of the authority.
Adjournment
Christian moved to adjourn the Lansing Gateway CIA Board of Directors Meeting
at 4:03 pm.
