Board of Directors Meeting Friday, June 09, 2023 – 8:30 AM Lansing EDC Office - 230 N. Washington Sq. Suite 209, Lansing, MI 48933 MINUTES Members Present: Chair - Calvin Jones, Secretary - Dr. Alane Laws-Barker, Treasurer - Catherine Rathbun, Jordan Hankwitz, Sandra Lupien, Michael McKissic, Jordan Sutton Members Absent: Vice-Chair - Shelley Davis Boyd, Chaz Carrillo Staff Present: Karl Dorshimer, Kris Klein, Brandy Standler, Aurelius Christian, Simon Verghese, Kahleea Washington Guests: Tammi Amerson (City of Lansing), Diamond (City of Lansing), Jackson Mills (City of Lansing), Aurora LeMule (LBWL) Call to Order/Roll Call Chair Jones called the Lansing Economic Development Corporation meeting to order at 8:28 AM. Introduction of Community Development Fellow Kahleea Washington introduced herself to the board as the new Community Development Fellow. She will serve with the EDC for the next 15 months. Approval of LEDC Board Meeting Minutes – Friday May 05, 2023 (ACTION) MOTION: Member Lupien moved to approve the LEDC meeting minutes from the Friday, May 05, 2023, Board of Directors meeting, as presented. Motion seconded by member McKissic. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. LEDC Board of Directors Meeting: Friday, June 09, 2023 Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 3 Update on Financials Standler informed the board there was little activity in April, other topics will be covered under budget amendment discussion. FY2023/2024 LEDC & City of Lansing Economic Development Contract (ACTION) Attached Amended FY2022/2023 LEDC Budget- Highlighted in Orange MOTION: Member Dr. Laws-Barker moved to approve the FY2023/2024 LEDC & City of Lansing Economic Development Contract, as presented. Motion seconded by member Rathbun. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. FY2023/2024 LEDC & City of Lansing Façade Program Contract (ACTION) MOTION: Member Lupien moved to approve the FY2023/2024 LEDC & City of Lansing Façade Program Contract, as presented. Motion seconded by member Rathbun. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. Approval of FY2022/2023 LEDC Budget Amendment (ACTION) Attached Amended FY2022/2023 LEDC Budget- Highlighted in Orange MOTION: Member McKissic moved to approve the Approval of FY2022/2023 LEDC Budget Amendment, as presented. Motion seconded by member Sutton. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. Approval of FY2023/2024 LEDC Budget (ACTION) Attached Proposed FY2023/2024 LEDC Budget- Highlighted in Blue MOTION: Member Hankwitz moved to approve the Approval of FY2023/2024 LEDC Budget, as presented. Motion seconded by member Dr. Laws-Barker. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. Approval of Micro-Loan Request from Applicant The committee did not approve the loan request, therefore there is no action for the board. LEDC Board of Directors Meeting: Friday, June 09, 2023 Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 3 Approval of Micro-Loan Policy Update (ACTION) MOTION: Member McKissic moved to approve the Approval of Micro Loan Policy Update, as presented. Motion seconded by member Rathbun. YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried. Approval to Repurchase Corner Parcel (ACTION) Action was not needed as the documents are not ready for this meeting. LEED Initiative Update Christian provided a quick synopsis of the program. Empower program application went live June 1st. The application closes June 18th. Organization Update Lansing EDC is to move out of the 230 North building by June 30th. A lease is being executed to move into the Arbaugh building on South Washington. New staff member Alex Watkins, economic development specialist will be starting June 12th. Open Forum for LEDC Board Members Chair Jones thanked everyone who attended the Moneyball and Walter French building.
