Members Present: Chair - Calvin Jones, Vice-Chair - Shelley Davis Boyd, Secretary - Dr. Alane Laws-

Call to Order/Roll Call
Chair Jones called the Lansing Economic Development Corporation meeting to order at 8:32 AM.
Special Presentation – Chair Calvin Jones presented to past board chair Andrea Binoneimi a clock in
appreciation for her years of service on the board of directors.
Introduction of New Board Member – Jordan Hankwitz was introduced to the board as a new member.
Jordan is the new Director of Economic Development with the City of Lansing.
Approval of LEDC Board Meeting Minutes – Friday April 14, 2023 (ACTION)
MOTION: Member Davis Boyd moved to approve the LEDC meeting minutes from the Friday, April 14, 2023,
Board of Directors meeting, as presented. Motion seconded by member Carrillo.
YEAS: Unanimous, motion carried.

Update on Financials
Standler noted that the ARPA funds are reflected in the financials, and everything is on track as we approach
the end of the fiscal year.
FY2024 Budget Preview and Discussion
Klein provided a preview to the budget that will be fully presented in June. Revenue services and expenses
were covered.
LEED Initiative Update
Christian provided an update. The Empower Program is the technical assistance aspect to the LEED Initiative.
25 BIPOC owned businesses will be supported. Applications open in May. A six-month program starts June
28th.
Organization Update
Dorshimer noted that interviews are concluding for the Economic Development Specialist position and a
decision will be made soon to add a new staff member. Lansing EDC office will be moving to the Arbaugh
building, as the current lease for office space will be up on June 30th.
Projects Update
Lofts at Dodge Park project is still in progress; further updates will be provided. Hall 224 is tracking to open in
August. The Ovation is coming along with groundbreaking in a few weeks. City View will be opening to
residents very soon. Moneyball will be hosting a Grand Opening in the coming weeks. Niowave is expanding.
LBRA working with North Point developer is trying to secure a grant for the Verlinden site for manufacturing.
Verghese provided an update to the MSU practicum corridor project.
Open Forum for LEDC Board Members
Materials were passed to the board from Chair Jones, and Vice Chair Davis Boyd.
