Washington Ave. Meeting was called to order by City Clerk Swope at 10:05 a.m. Members Present: Chris Swope, City Clerk Sharon Frischman, City Assessor Others Present: Robin Stites, Office of the City Clerk Approval of Agenda: Moved by City Assessor Frischman to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes: Moved by City Assessor Frischman to approve the minutes of the Election Commission Meeting of August 1, 2023. Motion carried. Public Comment: There was no public comment. New Business: a. Consideration of Precinct Consolidations for the November 7, 2023 City General Election. Moved by City Assessor Frischman to approve the Resolution to Consolidate Precincts for the City General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Motion Carried. CITY OF LANSING ELECTION COMMISSION RESOLUTION TO CONSOLIDATE PRECINCTS FOR THE CITY GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2023 WHEREAS, the City of Lansing anticipates a low voter turnout for the City General Election on November 7, 2023; and WHEREAS, consolidating precincts would save funds by reducing the number of Election Inspectors, lowering programming expenses, and reducing equipment Chris Swope Lansing City Clerk Lansing City Clerk’s Office Ninth Floor, City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48933-1695 517-483-4131 • TDD 517-483-4479• 517-377-0068 FAX www.lansingmi.gov/clerk • city.clerk@lansingmi.gov delivery costs; and WHEREAS, MCL 168.659 allows for the City Election Commission to consolidate two or more precincts in local elections, provided the new consolidated precinct does not exceed 5,000 active registered voters; and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following precincts be consolidated for the November 7, 2023 City General Election: 2, 7, and 8 voting at Don Johnson Fieldhouse 5 and 6 voting at Foster Community Center 9 and 10 voting at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 11 and 31 voting at South Washington Office Complex 12 and 14 voting at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 15 and 16 voting at Parker Memorial Baptist Church 18 and 20 voting at Gardner Middle School 21 and 28 voting at Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center 23 and 24 voting at Dwight Rich School 25 and 26 voting at Tabernacle of David Church 29 and 30 voting at Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center 34 and 36 voting at Bethlehem Temple Church (The Bread House) 37 and 38 voting at Neighborhood Empowerment Center BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all other precincts will not be consolidated for the November 7, 2023 City General Election. b. Approval of the Ballots for the November 7, 2023 City General Election Moved by City Clerk Swope to approve the ballots for the November 7, 2023 City General Election. Motion Carried.
