Held at 316 N. Capitol Ave. at 6:00 pm,
January 27,2011 (DRAFT)
The January 2011 meeting of the City of Lansing Demolition Board was called to order at 6:06 p.m. by C. Whitford. The
following members were in attendance: David Muylle.

PUBLIC PRESENT: None
C. Whitford asked for approval of the 05/27/10 meeting minutes. Demolitions Hearing Officer Dave Muylle moved to
approve minutes.

Case No.: 2011-001 Address: 1542 N.Hi2h St.
C. Whitford presented the case. The listed taxpayers of record and interested parties are Wanda Lester, Fady Aibout, and
Richard Gonzales. The SEV of the property is $28,900. Land value is $5,600. Building value is $23,300. The property is
zoned "C" Residential. There has been no action on the property; nor have any of the required permits been pulled. The
estimate of repairs is$71,204. Based on this information,staff recommends that this property be made safe or demolished in
30 days.
Demolition Hearing Officer Dave Muylle verified that the property owner and interested parties were given notice of the
property being entered into the Make Safe or Demolish process and the hearing date. C. Whitford informed him that letters
were mailed to all interested parties,however only one of the letters were signed for.
Demolitions Hearing Officer Dave Muylle ordered the property be made safe or demolished by February 27,2011.
Case No.:2011-002 Address: 617 Bluff St.
C. Whitford presented the case. The listed taxpayers of record and interested parties are James Jacobs III and Cheryl
Narducci. The SEV of the property is $26,700. Land value is $6,000. Building value is $20,700. The property is zoned
"C"Residential. There has been no action on the property, nor have any of the required permits been pulled. The estimate
of repairs is $58,875. Damage to this property was as a result of a house fire. C. Whitford added that the property is open
to the elements as the roof is heavily damaged.
Demolition Hearing Officer Dave Muylle verified that the property owners were given notice of the property being entered
into the Make Safe or Demolish process and the hearing date. C. Whitford explained that the notification letter was not
signed for and returned by the USPS. He went on to explain that he has been in contact with the owners and that while he
has not spoken with them since the property was entered into the process he has in the past explained to them what would
happen if the property was not actively worked on. He also added to the record that there were no monies held in escrow by
jthe city from the owner's insurance company.
Demolitions Hearing Officer Dave Muylle ordered the property be made safe or demolished by February 27,2011.

OTHER BUSINESS:
C. Whitford addressed the Board to discuss the emergency demolition of 415 Filley St. Case No.:2010-008. He explained
that the office was contacted by a neighbor and was told that the exterior was structurally unsound and caving in. An
exterior inspection was done and it was determined that the house was an imminent danger and needed to be demolished
immediately.
C. Whitford addressed the Board to discuss the emergency demolition of 1633 Herbert St. (garage only)Case No.: 2010-009.
He explained that the garage at this foreclosed property had an exterior inspection and it was determined that it posed an
imminent danger. As such the structure was demolished.
Demolition Hearing Officer Dave Muylle inquired if there was a search being conducted for a third member of the
Demolition Board. C.Whitford confirmed that there is an effort being made to find a third officer.

ADJOURNMENT: At 6:20 pm;C.Whitford adjourned the meeting.
