DEMOLITION BOARD
Held at 316 N. Capitol Ave. at 6:00 pm,
August 25, 2022
The August 25,2022 meeting of the City of Lansing Demolition Board was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by J. Vitale.
The following members were in attendance: Dave Muylle, Joe Vitale
MEMBERS ABSENT: none
STAFF PRESENT: Scott Sanford, Lynne Puente
PUBLIC PRESENT: Bob VanGilder, Sam Dua
OLD BUSINESS: Minutes from the March 24, 2022
Demolition board members Dave Muylle and Joe Vitale read the previous meetings minutes both made the motion
to approve the minutes.
Case No.: D2022-009 Address: 304 Regent St.
Scott Sanford read the case overview sheet for the board it was noted to the board this property is fire damaged it
was tabled for 60 days from the June 23,2022 demolition board meeting the owner of the property was to have
made application for the repairs thru the Building Safety Department and update the board of their progress. The
owner Bob VanGilder is in attendance for tonight’s meeting. Joe Vitale asked Mr. VanGilder as to his progress and
the owner responded he hasn’t done anything he has been busy he has also hard a hard time finder worker’s. Mr.
Vitale responded he has had 60 days to make progress and since he has not made any progress, he is going to rule
30 days make safe or demolish. Mr. Vitale explained this is not the end of the road after 30 additional days without
work commencing on the property it would be referred to Public Safety who would then make a motion to have the
property heard at City Council. Due to the property being fired damaged all the timelines are shorter.

OLD BUSINESS:
Case No.: D2022-008 Address: 3417 Stabler St.
Scott Sanford read the case overview sheet for the board it was noted to the board this property is fire damaged it
was tabled for 60 days from the June 23, 2022, demolition board meeting the owner of the property was to have
made application for the repairs thru the Building Safety Department and update the board of their progress. The
owner of the property is in attendance for tonight’s meeting. Mr. Muylle asked the owner if they had made progress
on the repairs. Mr. Dua responded he has submitted drawings and a building permit application the plans are
currently under review. Lynne Puente confirmed that she checked BS&A prior to the meeting and could see the
application the application is currently under review. Mr. Dua also stated that he intends to add a 2-bedroom 1 bath
addition to the home.
D. Muylle ruled: Table 60 days.
Case No.: D2022-D007 Address: 1919 S Washington Ave.
Scott Sanford read the case overview sheet for the board it was noted to the board this property is fire damaged it
was tabled for 60 days from the June 23,2022 demolition board meeting. The property is fire damaged at the
previous meeting both owners notified the board their intention was to have the building demolished. Neither of the
owners are in attendance for the meeting Lynne Puente notified the board that the Code Enforcement Officer
informed her that the owners have begun taking the siding off the building and have been conducting salvage.
There was a large tree that would need to be removed before an excavator could be brought to the site for the
demolition. The owners have had that tree cut down in the last couple of days the tree debris are currently being
removed from the site. Due to activity at the property Scott Sanford and Lynne Puente requested that the board
table this property 60 days.
D. Muylle ruled: Table 60 days.
