The Woodgate Walkover over Miller Road is an aluminum truss
constructed in 1975. The walkover is in generally good condition.
SUPERSTRUCTURE
The aluminum structure is in generally good condition. There is a small dent in the truss bottom chord
on the east side over the eastbound lane. There are two small scrapes in the truss bottom chord on the
east side over the north curb line.
The fencing is loose in the gaps between the stairs and main span. Many of the wire ties at the bottom
of the pedestrian fencing are broken or missing (40 total counted). Most of the decorative fascia panels
are missing on the east side of the truss.
FOUNDATIONS
The south stair concrete foundation pedestal has some minor map cracks. There are vertical cracks on
the east and north faces at the northeast corner. There is some cracking of the grout under the column
base plate.
The south main span concrete foundation pedestal has very minor map cracking. There is some
disintegration of the grout under the column base plates.
At the concrete base for the south stairs, there is a crack under the south base plate at the west anchor
bolt. There is a spall under the north base plate.
The north stair concrete foundation pedestal has map cracks and some cracks with efflorescence. The
grout is disintegrating under the column base plate.
The north main span foundation pedestal has leaching map cracks with the heaviest at the southwest
corner. The grout is disintegrating under the column base plates.
The anchor bolts at the north stringer of the south stair are loose or broken and the concrete is spalled
under the stringer. The base angle at the south stringer of the south stair is partially broken.
The concrete sidewalk at the north stair has settled 1 to 2‐inches.
There is guardrail in front of both the south and north stairs. The guardrail in front of the south stairs is
low (1’‐5” from grade to top of rail).
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Patch concrete under north stair stringer of south stair and replace anchor bolts.
Chip and place new non‐shrink grout under the column base plates as required.
Replace missing wire ties for the pedestrian fencing.
